Under the Gaze of Grace

Melinda Kapor

Just made the deadline! I submitted a couple of images to the 2025 LensCulture Street Photography Awards right before entries closed.

I love how photography can tell a story without saying a word. LensCulture is one of my favorite places to experience the magic of capturing moments otherwise lost. It’s a global platform that celebrates the art of seeing, connecting photographers and photo lovers from around the world.

I’ve shared my own work here more than once, sometimes requesting a critique from one of their professional judges. It’s truly rewarding to be part of a vibrant community of storytellers that values both creativity and constructive feedback.

Take a look…you might just find your next favorite photograph: lensculture.com

Here are my August 2025 entries:

A photo of a man walking down a sloping street, carrying a heavy box marked "Made in China".
Delivery and Devotion
The same man, a few steps later, appears to be making an offering to the Divine.
Passing Grace

Both images were captured within seconds of each other on a sloping street in Seville. I was drawn by the color, light, and textures, as well as the striking juxtaposition of the holy with a mundane task.

Like the dynamism in the first photo, the man’s movement down the sloping street…carrying a heavy box clearly marked Made in China…offers a subtle nod to the vast reach of globalization in today’s world.

WIth just a few steps foward, the man in the second image seems to be making an offering to the Divine. The early March light appears brighter in this photo giving a sense of presence to the moment.

I’d love to hear your thoughts.
