Available on Amazon now is the new bestseller Be Love: A Conscious Shift to Birthing the Future, compiled by Viki Winterton. I’m proud to have been part of this endeavor, as it is especially meaningful for these times we find ourselves. Now, more than ever, we have to be conscious of our actions, our words and our belief in the power of love.
All of the authors, including myself, were part of the EIPPY Awards that were held in Manzanillo, Mexico, the first week of February 2020. It was decided at the conference that we would all contribute to an anthology. We had no idea at the time that within a few months, the entire world would be facing a global pandemic.
There was a feeling, even a foreboding, before I left for Mexico. Though the virus that China was dealing with seemed far away, it was at the back of my mind as I looked for hand sanitizer in NYC before flying to Manzanillo. When I got back to the States, I spent a few days with my husband in NYC, before he and I left for Milano. We hadn’t been in Italy even a week before it was announced that there was an outbreak of COVID-19 in Lombardy, the province where Milan is located.
We went into a partial lockdown in February 23rd; full lockdown by March 8th. Full lockdown meant that one had to have a printed self-declaration to leave their home, a document stating health status and a motive for being out. Acceptable motives were for reasons of work (medical professionals and those who held jobs such as food vendors, pharmacists, etc), medical, grocery shopping or pharmacy.
Italy was the first country outside China to be hit hard with the virus. A few weeks later, other countries closed down to deal with their own pandemic crisis.
Around the globe, those of us who had met in Mexico pooled our ideas for our upcoming collaboration with Viki. We decided, as a group, that we would write encouraging words for our time. BE LOVE: A Conscious shift to Birthing the Future was the title we chose.
