Native Californian Melinda Kapor never thought she would leave her beautiful home state, but her first trip overseas in the early eighties to Dubrovnik, then part of Yugoslavia, changed everything. Just 14 months later she was living in Italy, first Rome, then Milan, and later to Lisbon, Portugal, where she resides today.
In her recent book of poems, THIS TIME, ANOTHER PLACE, Melinda reminisces about moments in her life, both past and present. This is her first solo work and has won her acclaim for its haunting simplicity and raw emotion.
Melinda has also been a contributor to the newly released HOW BIG CAN YOU DREAM?, a journal compiled by Viki Winterton. In another compilation, PEBBLES IN THE POND-Wave 4, she shares an experience that taught her to listen to her inner voice, saying about intuition “…the more we recognize and honor our own, the more it will evolve to serve us.” As one of the authors in LIFE SPARKS: Life stories to Illuminate, Inspire and Ignite, Melinda writes of life choices that challenge and the benefits of cherishing the present moment for “…it will never come again.”
Being present in the moment is what Melinda strives to do. And those moments she beautifully captures through words and photography, thus sharing her tapestry of experiences with others.
